I agree with Anon of 7/18 that the picture on the right was sqished to make her look wider and shorter than she is in life. Anyone with 20/20 vision can see that. I give her a lot of credit for wearing a bikini KNOWING that the photogs would be jumping out of the woodwork. Good for her for having the self-esteem it takes to be who she wants to be - not what Hollywood wants her to be. Her husband has a whole lotta sexy woman on his hands and I'll bet he loves every bit of her! And, no, I'm not a fat miserable woman.

The way you do this at this age is to stop eating so much and walk 20 minutes a day...

Maybe she likes herself this way. Maybe she doesn't. Maybe she gained the weight because she "let herself go" or because she's got a thyroid problem. Maybe he likes bigger women, maybe he wishes she'd go back to what she looked like when they were first married. Who knows?
More importantly, though, what business is it of anybody else's? What's the point in judging her or speculating about her weight gain?
I will say that I commend her for having a good body image. Loving your body isn't about having it be perfect, you can be unhappy with aspects of it but still hold your head high and stand proudly - in a bikini or an evening gown. So on the off-chance that idiot Cathy is correct, or even if she isn't, kudos to Keely for having the courage to walk onto that beach in a bikini, knowing paparazzi would be snapping her photo and snarky, vapid tabloid worshipers like some of you would be tsk-tsking. Good for her for holding her head high in the spotlight and not apologizing for who she is and how she looks (be it by choice, illness or anything else).
Maybe you all should worry about why there's an obesity epidemic in the most image obsessed society in the world. Why we're equally drawn to skinny celebs and Double Whoppers. Why there's a new diet craze every six months, while the stats on obesity keep rising. Or how about worrying about what kids are eating these days. Let Keely Shaye-Smith and those close to her worry about her health, her image, her husband's desire for her and all that other stuff.
And yes, it's pretty apparent by the way her head and the clouds are squished that the photo on the right's been doctored.

Stop vilifying people because of their weight! Geez. I love how everyone is a freakin' medical expert. Alcoholics, smokers and drug addicts aren't demonized the way fat people are, and their choices have wider reaching consequences for EVERYONE. I can't get second hand fat by sitting next to an obese person, but I can get cancer from second-hand smoke.
None of you know anything about their relationship, but since they're still married, chances are it's going well. Leave this woman alone.

You can speak from experience that overweight women are not happy? Wow. Im so glad that overweight women have one person to speak on behalf of them. Im 5'10 size 20. Yes overweight. But I dont care. I am happy as hell!!!! I have fun!!! I have a loving husband, an intense sex life, great friends, a great job. I eat healthy (gasp!!!) and I walk everyday, yet I am still a size 20. I guess I should consider myself worthless and hope that my husband doesn't leave me.

Well, I haven't read through all of the comments here, but I got to say, I think she looks good in the before AND after pic.
She is a beautiful woman. Both pics have different looks going on, and both suit her. Some people can carry the voluptuous look off. It's a pity they got her at an angle where the light is emphasising her cellulite in the after pic.
Her figure in the after pic WAS *THE* standard of beauty for hundreds of years. It's only relatively recently that the skeletal look has found popular appeal. But, even now, 'fat' is still considered desirable by more men than popular media would have you think - there are whole industries based around mens desire for it. It isn't particular underground either - just Google 'BBW'.
But none of it really matters. She looks happy, and is obviously confident with her figure (and so she should be, she looks gorgeous) strutting around in a bikini - good for her! Gotta admirer someone who defies convention.
